At Peter Freeborn-Fine art watercolors, I specialize in original watercolour paintings inspired by the beauty of the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I am an entirely self-taught artist who only began painting a few years ago. My use of the wet-on-wet technique creates unique and stunning results that allow the viewer to explore the textures, shapes, and hues of each piece.
I am proud to continue the family tradition of art, as my father and sister are also artists. I believe in the power of art to bring emotion to its viewers, and I work to create beautiful and meaningful works of art.
My Story
When i paint i'm telling a story but with as few words as possible. I'm aiming to capture the beauty of my subjects alone.
I want to gain a feeling of excitement and life in my results by not putting every detail in, and for the viewer looking at my finished paintings to enjoy filling the missing sections, they can paint these in such clear detail and clarity in their imagination better than I. This means that they have to think , be involved while viewing and also each time their imagination will see another interpretation for the same area.
I want to avoid being like the most boring of story tellers, I want viewers of my work to come back and see more not walk away uninterested.
great art should cause a reaction, an emotion.
As an artist my hope is that you love the art and wish to own it so you are able to view it, to experience that emotion and grow with the piece over time, and see, and experience different emotions or feelings.
We are all individuals and react differently to the same stimuli of what we see, so the emotion is never the same between people.
My wish is that you view my art and think about the emotion (good or bad) that you feel, then i have at least made you wonder.
